Nutrition

At Little Cherubs we believe that meal times should be viewed as happy, social occasions for both children and staff. The staff team act as good role models by eating with our children, encouraging good table manners and conversation. Staff use meal and snack times to help children develop independence through making choices, serving food, drinks and feeding themselves.

All meals and snacks are freshly prepared on the premises each day. Our seasonal menu has recently been redesigned with ourselves and the help of Nicholas Munting MBE, to ensure children receive a nutritionally balanced, diverse range of meals.

Cultural flavours & dishes have been incorporated into our menu for children to experience many tastes of the world. Meals are adapted to meet individual dietary and allergy requirements.

All Little Cherubs staff have participated in HENRY (Health, Exercise & Nutrition for the Really Young) training on a guidance, knowledge & confidence in providing support for families on healthy eating and portion control.

We provide breakfast, lunch and tea for our children daily. Healthy mid-morning and afternoon snacks are offered to all children, along with a drink of milk or water.

Whilst we focus on healthy eating, we do not discourage parents from bringing in celebration cakes, as recognising and celebrating a child’s birthday builds self-esteem and uconfidence.

We aim to promote positive attitudes towards healthy eating through play opportunities, planned activities and games.

Free Milk Entitlement

As a full day nursery we are able to offer children less than 5 years of age, 189 ml (1/3 pint) of milk for each day they attend for 2 hours or more free of charge.

Birthday Cakes/Sweet

Whilst we encourage a practise focusing on Healthy Eating, we do not discourage parents from bringing in celebration cakes, as we believe that recognising and celebrating a child’s birthday builds both good self esteem and confidence.

Meet Nick The Chef

Nick has been a Chef for over 30 years, he has worked in many famous kitchens across London, that include The Ritz, The Dorchester, and Selfridges to name a few, Nick currently works in Parliament. Nick was awarded an MBE by Her Majesty the Queen at Windsor Castle in 2014 for “working with young people in Croydon” & for “services to parliament” Nick was very excited to be able to offer help & advice to Little Cherubs and looks forward to an ongoing relationship with the team, helping them develop and continually improve the food offer for the children.
