Little Cherubs Shortlands is one of two family run nurseries, which is situated within the Bromley residential area close to several local primary schools.
The surrounding area provides parents with ample parking, and there are good transport links; buses and trains. The nursery drive provides parents/carers with safety and ease; dropping off and picking up throughout the day.
The nursery building was originally two separate houses, which were adapted and joined together in 2004 and thus opened as a 46 place nursery. We have 3 separate rooms; Baby, Toddler and Pre-School.
In 2010 we wished to further improve our nursery environment by giving the children more space in which to play. The Pre-School Room was extended by 30% giving the children more room and space in which to explore the activities on offer. The Toddler Room increased its size by 10% to provide an indoor messy area and ground floor children’s toilets that facilitate both the room and children using the garden.
We have a small gated garden area leading off the Toddler Room, allowing children free-flow throughout the day. Our main playground offers the opportunity for our children to explore nature, and extend their play and learning through various outdoor activities.
During the summer months we are able to provide shade from the sun with our large canopy.
Parents and carers are invited to view the nursery and receive information about the childcare we provide. Parent/carers are then asked to fill out an application form with a preference to the sessions they require. Once a place has been offered, parents/carers would need to pay a deposit to secure a place.
We offer every new child a 'settle in' period before their first day, free of charge. During this time, your child will spend short periods of time at nursery, easing and growing comfortable in their new environment. This is also an important time for the staff team to get to know you and your child, so they are fully aware of your child’s individual needs.
We are open from 8am until 6pm, Monday to Friday, with the opportunity to access our ‘early opening service from 7.45am at an additional cost. The days which we open exclude bank holidays, the week between Christmas & New Year and 4 staff training days that we set at the beginning of each year. Children are required to attend at least 2 days a week to help in providing continuity of care, also supporting your child to feel safe and secure within the environment.
Payment of fees is due on the 1st of the month and is payable in advance; we are able to accept childcare vouchers to cover the fees or as part payment. Fees are calculated on a pro-rata basis over a twelve month period; and are therefore payable during holidays and Christmas breaks.
Little Cherubs is able to offer a sibling discount upon request.
The older Pre-School children have the opportunity to participate in French lessons. The majority of the lesson is given orally whereby the children have ample opportunity to practice and repeat words, songs and simple phrases. The last part of the lesson is usually accompanied by an activity sheet that supports the new words.
All three and four year olds are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education for 38 weeks of the year. The Free nursery education sessions are 9am-12pm and 2pm-5pm. To qualify for the full 15 hour entitlement your child will need to attend a minimum of 3 days a week.
We offer the 2 year old early learning entitlement which enables eligible children to 15 hours of free early education during term time only.
The funding is allocated on a means tested basis by the Local Authority, with the aim of extending this entitlement to all 2 year olds in the future. If you are eligible for this funding you will receive a ‘Letter of Eligibility’ which will enable us to claim the free entitlement for your child.
